A few things you might be wondering
What I take on, how I quote and what happens next. If your question is not here, give me a ring.
Do you charge for a quote?
No. Quotes are free and there is no obligation. I come and look at the work, explain the scope and give you a written quote. For most jobs I quote a fixed price rather than an hourly rate.
Will it be you doing the work?
Yes. I work on my own. The person who comes to quote is the person who does the job, and the one you contact afterwards.
Which areas do you cover?
I am based in Ingbirchworth near Penistone. I cover Penistone, Barnsley, Holmfirth, Denby Dale, Stocksbridge, Huddersfield, Wakefield and the edge of Sheffield, roughly 15–20 miles from Penistone. Send your area if you are unsure.
Can you help with a small job?
Yes. I take on small household jobs as well as fencing, decking and patios. Shelf hanging, flat-pack assembly, curtain poles, draught-proofing, lock changes and furniture repairs are all work you can ask me about.
Do you supply materials?
I supply materials and fixings unless you would prefer to source your own. I explain what is included in the written quote so you can see the scope before agreeing.
How do I pay?
I accept bank transfer and cash. For larger jobs I may ask for a deposit to cover materials, with the balance due on completion. I explain the payment arrangements when quoting.
What if the work is more involved than expected?
I talk to you before doing any additional work. If something hidden changes the scope, I explain what I have found and discuss it with you first.
How soon can you start?
It depends on my current workload and the size of your job. Tell me what needs doing and I will discuss a suitable date with you.
Do you clear up afterwards?
Yes. I clear up after myself and leave your home and garden tidy when the job is done.
Do you do gas work?
No. I do not take on gas work. If that is part of your job, you need a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Do I need to be at home?
It is helpful to be there at the start and end, but you do not need to stay home for the entire job. We can discuss access before I start.
Can I see work like mine?
Yes. The gallery shows my own work, including a path before and after relaying and a deck rebuild sequence. Ask me for additional photographs relevant to your job.
